PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The RTS Tactical RICO Special Operations Vest with Commander Level IIIA Soft Armor is built for SWAT, Entry Teams, and Special Ops who need fast, flexible protection.

This upgraded model features a 2-point quick-release system at the waist for rapid donning/doffing and reinforced hook-and-loop shoulder straps for improved durability and comms integration.

It comes with Commander HG2 Soft Armor, NIJ 0101.06 certified and made in the USA, providing Level IIIA protection at just 1.24 lbs/ft². A side-zip pocket lets you insert rifle-rated plates while wearing the vest, making it instantly adaptable to changing threats.

The vest features a side-loading plate design to reduce weight and simplify armor upgrades. A 360° laser-cut MOLLE platform offers complete loadout customization, while overlapping soft armor panels and Cummerbund armor compatibility maximize coverage.

Comfort features include a breathable spacer mesh interior, removable Epic Shoulder Pads, and spacious chest/admin pockets, including a full-size phone pouch.

The good, exactly what I needed, level iiia outer vest with molle so I could get gear off my belt for comfort. High quality material and construction. The bad, QD buckles are a bit clumsy to lock but you get used to them. Shoulder straps need more adjustability, would like to make them a little tighter. Shoulder pads were way too bulky and needed ditching for my use. The ugly, nowhere did it say when I ordered it there would be a 30+ day lead time. Overall I am happy with my purchase and believe I.got good value and my needs were met.

Been wearing the vest over 2 months, 4 days a week and no complaints so far. Nice fit, comfortable contour around the body. I like the cumber bun that fixes the rear panel to your body and allows the front to be pulled away/ move slightly, allowing greater flexibility and movement when having to stoop or bend. High quality materials and very durable. Definitely a vest you can rely on to keep up with the hectic dangers on the streets we face today. Highly recommend.

As a Deputy Sheriff Since 1990 with 15 years of swat experience. I ordered a shield and Rico Vest carrier. First was the wrong size. Bill Force gave excellent customer service and got the right size right back to me. The quality is good and customer service is excellent. The shoulder pads need to be somehow mounted. They cause the actual shoulder strap to loosen while wearing. The strap itself needs to be reconfigured to be smaller, and better retention after tightening. The quick disconnect is good, but there needs to be more areas of adjustment for the shoulder straps. The armor doesn’t fill out the entire upper chest. It leaves about 1 1/2 inches of excess material where there should be armor. The side pocket where you’re able to put in ballistic plates is good but with the soft armor being standard underneath there needs to be a pocket or strap inside that can hold a trauma plate. I was able to configure something on the inside. The radio pocket is decent, but without it being a true cummerbund it sits uneven and then sits uneven on the chest while wearing. The adjustment in the back should be more accessible for adjustment and might want to be changed to Velcro. The cord doesn’t allow for even distribution of the side panels

They’re amazing! Switched over from a plate carrier to this for patrol. The admin pouch is perfect, 3x5 and FI cards etc, its stupid light weight and comfortable. I don’t even take it off at my desk like i would the plate carrier. Recommended it to my guys and 3 have bought them.

I placed my order with RTS Tactical on September 12, 2025, and it took almost two months before it was finally shipped. During that time, I received no meaningful updates or communication from the company. If I had known it would take this long, I would never have ordered from them. They should clearly state such long lead times before customers purchase. Even though my order is finally on the way, this has been a very disappointing experience, and I won’t be buying from RTS Tactical again.
