This is an excellent vest — I wear it for work eight hours a day, and it's incredibly comfortable. It distributes weight well and is clearly well-constructed. I would definitely recommend it. That said, I did have a couple of minor issues. The shoulder strap padding includes a built-in buckle that caused pressure points, so I had to remove it for better comfort. Additionally, the package didn’t include any instructions, so I had to contact customer support to figure out how to adjust the cummerbund. As a larger individual, I found that 10x12 plates were too small for me, but the 11x14 size fits perfectly. Overall, this is a great vest, and I would absolutely purchase it again.

Thank you RTS, Delivered two more of these amazing 6x8 LIGHTWEIGHT LEVEL III+ RIFLE SPECIAL THREATS INSERTS for officers ballistic vests. Although their current issued vest are capable of stopping most pistol caliber ammunition, unfortunately they are not built to stop the most commonly utilized rifle rounds. Most municipalities do not provide these inserts due to cost and other factors. Had officer Diaz and other officers had one of these ballistic inserts their chances of survival would have increased exponentially. After learning what happened to Sergeant Elio A. Diaz of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office last year, I began purchasing the RTS 6x8 Lightweight Level III+ Rifle Special Threat Inserts for Lee County Sheriff’s officers’ ballistic vests. During a routine traffic stop Sergeant Diaz spent more than an hour helping a driver with an insurance issue so the vehicle — where the driver lived — wouldn’t have to be towed. Without warning, the driver retrieved a semi-automatic rifle and fatally shot Sergeant Diaz. The issued vests currently stop most pistol calibers, but they are not designed to stop the rifle rounds most commonly used. Most municipalities don’t provide rifle plates because of cost and other constraints. Had Sergeant Diaz or other officers been equipped with these Level III+ inserts, their chances of survival would have increased exponentially. I started PatrolArmor.org, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to accept local community contributions and provide every uniformed officer with a rifle rated plate. So far I’ve purchased plates out of pocket. If one plate prevents a single officer’s death, the personal sacrifice will have been worth it. Thank you in advance for future donation consideration.”

These kits are great out of the box! (Bluey morale patches not included). They feel comfortable and are easy to move around in. We both have worn them doing workouts and while they don’t feel heavy while wearing them, they do add that burn on leg day. I’m 5’ 10” and 200lbs and wearing the L/XL while she is 5’ 3” and 120lbs wearing the S/M. No adjustment was needed on the plate carrier for me. She just needed the shoulders cinched up a bit and has a little bit of overlap in the cummerbund to make it wear snug. We both appreciate the added mag sleeves on the side for things like extra ammo and lip gloss. They also don’t add much bulk under a light jacket making them the perfect solution for protection without calling you out. Highly recommend!

Neither impressed nor disappointed. They’re steel plates, they’re on the smaller side of true to size, true to the posted weight on my scale at 6.6 lbs each. I received a pair of asymmetrical shaped plates. Don’t notice it in the carrier and over trauma pads and spall guard. They work. Shipping was fast. Company is good. The plates are plates though.

I purchased an active shooter plate carrier from RTS on 12-29-23. I received said carrier on 1-22-24 and assembled it then tried it on. While trying to adjust the shoulder straps to pull up the back plate so it can sit comfortably high on my back, the shoulder straps are too long and now hang into my workstation triangle of my chest. I think the “one size fits most” category does not work. I tried going to returns and the website advised this item is unreturnable.

Shipping was super fast! When it comes to plates and carrier kits, RTS is the fastest shipping from what I’ve experienced! Kits are a good deal and of quality and from my own research and the countless amount of videos I’ve watched to inform myself of the many choices and brands. I went with RTS because of the dependability! Wish the “lightweight” plates were a bit more “light” but with steel plates, I’ll deal with 6.7-7lbs a plate. Only pet peeve is that I wish the kits included trauma pads. Overall a great deal, and will be buying again.
